  2. Mark - Thanks Bob, very kind of you to say.

  3. Bob Owen - there a great light quality about your images Mark, not only the obvious light, but the mood thats conveyed by them. The dance shots in this set are an example of what I mean, my whole mood is lifted by looking through them. Top job, I'll be back to see more.

  4. Mark - Cheers Tom and Lallian ;)

  5. lallian valte - beautiful. love the bottom third and bottom fourth.

  6. Tom Weller - A lovely set Mark. I particularly like your crisp B&W's of the bride at home.

A wedding at 11 Cavendish Square — Jo and David.

Wedding at 11 Cavendish Square. I met Jo and David for a coffee in the West End after they had already booked me and we were about a month before their wedding.  At some point David started telling me that Jo was a very good photographer herself and after seeing a few pictures on her phone I realised it wasn’t just a loyal boyfriend ‘bigging’ up his girlfriend.  She really was very good, with a fine eye for light and composition and her pictures would have looked completely at home hanging on the walls behind us. I felt that mixture of being flattered and a trickle of cold blood beginning to run through my veins as I knew she would be a client with high expectations. Jo was kind enough to drop me  a line the other day after she had seen her client gallery.

‘Just picked this up — we’ve been in areas of California with very flaky wifi! Anyway, we are completely bowled over with the photographs — they are so fantastic (even better than I thought they would be, if that’s even possible), and you’ve captured the day just as I knew you would! A HUGE thank you from the two of us!!! :)’

This was my second consecutive wedding at 11 Cavendish square which is a venue I have become rather fond of. The wedding was like my previous wedding at this venue fun and informal with friendly guests and staff. Congratulations Jo and David and thanks for trusting me with your wedding. Here are a few of my favourites:

  1. Mark - Thankyou for your kind comments Istvan.

  2. Istvan Magyar - Brilliant again, great to see how observant and comfortable you are with the camera Mark and how the photos keep some elegant distance from the conventional.

  3. Mark - I think quite a few do, but thanks all the same Scotty ;)

  4. Mark - Thanks Steven ;)

  5. scott collier - nobody does it better

  6. Steven Carter Hewson - What a great set, Mark. Stylish, classy and creative wedding photography. I enjoyed viewing these very much indeed.

  7. Mark - Thanks for those thoughtful words Anurag.

  8. Anurag - Hi Mark, A beautiful set of photographs. I don't think there is a single photograph out of place here. From the use of natural frames, that first simple, yet effective formal portrait, to the shadows during the dancing and that lady laughing on left of the first dance. The details are what make photographs. Something new every time the viewer revisits. I feel like finding a metaphorical glass and raising it to you. Cheers. :-)

Emily and Ciaran — A wedding at No.11 Cavendish square.

Very oddly I have had two consecutive weddings at the same venue, No 11 Cavendish Square and here is the first of them. Emily and Ciaran really are a very nice couple, practically neighbours of mine in here in East Dulwich and in fact I used to live on the same road as them. I had the pleasure of showing them their pictures last night in the pub, which was a nail-biting first for me. Im pleased to say they went down well. It was hard to take a bad picture on the day — Emily and Ciaran were fantastic together and they were surrounded on the day by lots of happy and animated friends and family. No. 11 Cavendish square is a beautiful venue that looks after its guests very well indeed and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a central London venue that is spacious, elegant but has friendly staff and is unfussy in its approach to hosting weddings. Congratulations Emily and Ciaran! You can see the larger gallery of this wedding here.

Laura and Ed — A wedding at St Sarkis Armenian Church Kensington, the Savoy Hotel and St John restaurant, Farringdon.

I have to say I liked Ed a lot when I first spoke to him on the phone even if he did have one of those surnames that make you feel like your own surname is vaguely inadequate — no, Im afraid I cant tell you what it is, but he shares a surname with Monte Melconian a famed Armenian military commander. Ed was a man with an unfussy attitude to his wedding but who had a clear notion of the kind of photography he wanted — straightforward, honest documentary that would show the fun of their day and their mutual love of food. The day started at St Sarkis Armenian Church, Kensigton, a ceremony that involved lots of singing and putting on crowns which I found rather wonderful. Everyone jumped on a London bus where an extremely cheery conductor/London tour guide, explained all the sites was we meandered our way towards the river and then onto the next venue. Ed and Laura had created a flyer that divided the day up into ‘Pig and No pig’ — that being a reference to the first half of the days gastronomic delights being catered for by the Savoy Grill and the second half of face stuffing was at the very amiable St John Restaurant Farringdon where suckling pig is a speciality. Here I sampled / stuffed my face with the best cheese straws I have ever tasted. All in all it was a great day and made all the better for a client that trusted me to just get on and shoot it however I liked and eat what ever I wanted. Thanks for choosing me to shoot your wedding Ed and Laura — congratulations!
