Having lived through one, we now know a wedding day is actually a thousand moments against which a whole gamut of feelings, emotions and interactions play out. When it came to writing our thank you cards afterwards, we’d wanted to capture something of that and describe what the day had meant to us, but soon realised that words don’t do a great job of conveying it.
But an ‘image speaks a thousand words’ though, or so the old adage tells us. A great photograph can capture the essence of the moment, but as anyone who’s been on your side of an SLR camera soon realises, it’s an elusive quality and seeing it and then capturing it really takes immense talent.
We now have a visual record of our wedding across more than 300 images that are all imbued with that elusive quality. Images with perspectives that have captured perfectly those moments as they unfolded. Images that really describe so much better than any words what the day was about and why it meant so much to us. Images that will invoke very many happy memories as we look back through them over time. Thank you.

‘We have just seen the images from the day and to say we are thrilled is an understatement. They’re exactly what we’d hoped for and we can’t stop looking at them! We can’t wait to share them with our family and friends.
We were both absolutely adamant that we wanted spontaneous photos of our wedding day with very few posed images. I began the search — there were the photographers who never lured me in past the homepage, the ones who took ‘traditional’ and dull posed wedding shots, the ones who took spontaneous shots that actually just resulted in a handful of pictures of people blinking, squinting or being caught mid-chew, and then there was Mark.His was the only site that had images from other people’s weddings that we actually wanted to look at — generally it’s hard to form any real interest in a total strangers wedding snaps but Marks pictures aren’t just snaps, it’s like looking at a documentary of life — there were the funny moments, the little asides (a sticker on someones bedroom door, the chairs lined up in the ceremony room waiting to be filled, the barometer in the hallway predicting fair weather), and the touching moments (the grooms face as the bride enters, an usher helping to seat an elderly relative, the bride hugging her father one last time as a single girl). I have looked at every album on his site, some more than once, simply because his images are an absolute pleasure to look at.Prior to the day Mark was as chilled out as I’d hoped he be, giving me enough information that I felt confident about what to expect but not demanding meetings or long lists from us. On the day itself, we were aware of his presence obviously, and yet there were points in the day when I’d notice him and be surprised because I’d completely forgotten he was there. He totally blended into the surroundings and that’s where his talent lies — because no-one was aware of his lens on them, there were no stiff poses or forced smiles, and no self conciousness.
For us our friends and family are the most important things in our lives, our wedding day was the one day when all of them would be under the same roof, and we wanted that documented. We have got exactly that, and we are so so grateful to Mark for capturing all of our loved ones on film. These are images we will treasure forever. Thank you so much Mark!

Mark, when we first came across your photography, we knew straight away you were the photographer for us. We wanted a fairly informal day, and to reflect this we didn’t want the traditional line up type photos, but photography that caught natural moments and real expressions. What you have managed to capture and have given to us, is a very real set of photos that documents beautifully every facet of our wedding. Everytime we look through our photos we are totally overwhelmed, it’s like being transported back there, reliving all the emotions we felt throughout the day. Your compostions have blown us away too, they are so subtly clever. At first look your eye is drawn to the main subject of the photo, but so often you have captured so much more in either the foreground, backgound or both, that your photographs tell so much more of a story than you sometimes first see. It took us a while to find the right wedding photographer but as soon as we saw Mark’s style we knew that’s what we were after. Mark’s photos are beautiful. We could not have been happier with our photographer or with his photographs. Alice — who’s very particular about photography — picked Mark out after looking at dozens of photographers’ sites. His work stood out as having just the qualities of documentary casualness, technical precision and on-the-hoof imagination we’d been looking for. He was enormously courteous and easy to deal with, and on the day did a superb job. Every couple of hours, having forgotten he was there, I’d catch sight of him out of the corner of my eye. Every time, he had his camera to his eye: melted into the background but working like a Stakhanovite, and doing so tirelessly right through to the end of the night. All our friends who had experience of planning weddings has impressed upon us the importance of finding a good photographer. We looked at numerous websites but were reluctant to book someone whose style was too trite or overengineered. Fortunately we found Mark.

When planning for our wedding a photographer was top of our priority list. We had looked at several photographers but no one had successfully captured what we were looking for. After further research we managed to find Mark’s details from the WPJA’s website.

Hi Mark,
I wanted to say thank you for the DVD. It did not arrive with us and I thought it had been lost but my next door neighbour discovered it thrown into bushes in the front garden so I suspect that the postman had left it on the doorstep as he could not post it through the letter-box and someone had nicked it but then thrown it away when they saw it was not of interest to them. Anyway we have now had the full set of photos and are thrilled with the results. You did exactly as you said you would do and were a low key, unobtrusive presence at the party. We love the style of the photos which combine a great sense of reality captured with a talented eye and a stylish approach. There are shots there that I would love even if they were not from our special day. We would like to give massive thanks and warm regards to Mark. He is an amazing artist with such a lovely temperament and discreet approach.
As soon as I had met him the morning of our wedding when I was getting ready. I was put at ease with his chilled out persona. He made me feel very relaxed and I enjoyed the non evasive way he captured some truly amazing moments. After about ten minutes Mark’s presence was unnoticed as I continued to get ready with my Mum & Sister and welcoming my dad into the room for the first time on our big day.
Personally I was concerned of certain angles that Mark might catch me in (as everyone I have little parts of me that I am not keen on) But Mark made us both feel very comfortable and look very beautiful and caught us in some fantastic shots! I feel like a professional model now. Mark spent a lot of time snapping away all day to get our perfect pictures. As we weren’t keen on the cheesy style of many mainstream photographers. We found Mark in complete understanding of our requests and then the rest was just left to his discretion.
The rest of the time was spent taking pictures of us and our guests in their natural settings. The documentary style pictures are so interesting as they have such character. You can see what people are doing in the background and its lovely. Everyone was smiling and it looks so natural and beautiful.
The pictures of the children at the wedding were angelic. They all look so cute! It even made a few parents cry on viewing! Our amazing wedding pictures have defiinitetly reduced me to tears on many occasions (in a good way of course!)
I especially love the black and white edited photographs infact I love all 320 photos on our carefully edited disc. If you are looking for a photographer that is professional, extremely artistic, patient, value for money, chilled out attitude and a very warming man you really have to choose Mark.
We have already recommended Mark to many of our friends for Weddings and other major events. I really can not praise him enough – They are the best photographs we have ever had of us and our family and friends.
