Street photography in Varanasi
It might seem a strange mix, street photography in India and wedding photography in London but it is one that suits me very well and in many ways keeps me sane. The wedding photographer Julie Kim spoke recently at London photographic event about the importance of personal work and her points struck a chord with me. Most wedding photographers were drawn to photography by there love of art and appreciation of a style of photography that was probably not weddings. Much as we love shooting weddings there is no getting away from the fact that on the day it is most definitely time to ‘put your game face on’ and knuckle down to 10 hours hard work. We all need to to keep in touch with what made us pick up a camera in the first place and hopefully allow that to inform your wedding photography and for your wedding photography to improve whatever your personal work might be. For many that is landscapes, sports or or nature — for me it has always been street photography. A few more favourite images here from my last trip to India.

Kristian Leven - Fantastic pictures Mark - so much going on in each frame. Hard to pick a favourite but the smoking silhouette man is right up there. Also very good point about personal projects to keep us on task...

Jerzy Modrak - Brilliant photographs! So true - every wedding photographer should pursue his/her own projects to develop his vision and not to become insane.
